The FST system is used differently on each and every client. Everyone presents with different movement patterns, problem areas, stressors, and goals, which are all taken into consideration when customizing an individualized session. FST is not only stretching, but a system that uses a multi-dimensional approach to achieve the goals of each person.
FST sessions are performed on a comfortable massage table, in which the client is fully clothed in athletic attire. Straps are used to stabilize one side of the body while the other side is being worked on.
Each session begins by taking the client through a series of gentle and slow movements to assess range of motion with focused breathing to shift into a relaxed state. From there, the session flows into a series of pain free, deep stretching movements. Clients often describe FST as “muscle magic” and leave their session feeling lighter, taller and looser.
It is recommended to schedule your session either after a workout or on an “off day” from training. An FST session is calming, relaxing and a great way to recover!
You will be completely clothed during your stretch session. It is recommended to wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in such as athletic wear.
This will depend on your individual needs and goals. If you are looking for a great way to relax and unwind, 1-2x per month is generally recommended. If you have specific goals, it could range from 2x/week to 1x/week. Recommendations will be given after your first stretch session in which you and I will come up with an appropriate game plan to help your achieve your goals! Session recommendations are always customized to meet each individual’s needs!
FST can benefit anyone! Whether it’s to optimize athletic performance, reduce areas of pain and tightness, or to help you tap into a more relaxed and restorative state, FST is for you! ! My clients range from teenagers to older adults. I work with athletes, busy professionals and those who are simply looking to recover from the stressors of everyday life.
Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds all of our body much like a silk stocking. It surrounds our bones, blood vessels, nerves, muscles, and organs, holding and attaching the structures together. Fascia is often compared to a spider web extending all the way from your head to your toes and has 10 times more sensory nerve endings than muscle! If you’ve ever peeled an orange and seen the thin white sheath that holds it together, then you’ve seen fascia. "Issues in the tissues" can be caused by the body being under stress from poor movement patterns, injuries, stress (physical & emotional), sedentary lifestyle (lack of exercise / sitting for prolonged periods of time) or over training. FST is a powerful solution for relieving pain, re-patterning, re-aligning, lengthening, improving mobility, increasing performance and achieving optimal flexibility. Over time, adhesions can be created in the fascia from things like immobility, intense training, repetitive motions, poor posture, dehydration, inflammation, injuries, surgeries, and even emotional traumas. These adhesions and stored traumas can makes us feel tight, weak and achey, inhibiting our performance and our quality of life.
